This week, I’m on an adventure with my 84-year-old mom in Lisbon.
A girls’ trip.
Just the two of us navigating cobblestone streets, steep hills, new cultures, unfamiliar languages, and a few moments of getting completely turned around. 😊
What strikes me most isn’t the beauty of Lisbon—although it is breathtaking.
It’s watching my mom embrace the adventure.
At 84, she’s curious. Open. Willing to try new things. Still eager to see the world. Still willing to step outside of her comfort zone.
What a gift.
As we move through this journey together, I’m reminded that growth doesn’t have an expiration date. Neither does wonder.
So often we tell ourselves we’ll do the thing someday.Take the trip.Start the chapter.Follow the dream.Learn something new.
But life is happening now.
This trip has reminded me of the importance of presence—of slowing down long enough to savor the conversations, the laughter, the unexpected moments, and the simple joy of being together.
I know opportunities like this are precious.
And I don’t take a single moment for granted.
If I’m lucky, I hope I’m exactly like my mom at 84—still exploring, still learning, still saying yes to adventure, and still trusting that there is always something new waiting around the corner.
Here’s to pushing ourselves beyond what feels familiar, embracing new perspectives, and fully living while we can.
